Cellist Jia Kim began her cello studies at the age of eleven in Korea, where she won first place in the Korean Music Association Competition, the National Symphony Orchestra Competition of Korea and the Young Musician Foundation's National Debut Concerto Competition. Ms. Kim was awarded the Jack Smith Memorial Award, Most Promising Young Talent at the 2005 Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition in California and was chosen as winner of the 2007 Performing Arts Scholarship at the Cerritos Center of Arts Education. She has appeared as a soloist with the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony Orchestra, Sang-Rok Orchestra, the OCSHA Symphony Orchestra, and the YMF Debut Orchestra, among others. Also an active chamber musician, Ms. Kim is one of the founding members of the Tristan Piano Quartet which made their debut in New York's Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center last winter and was invited back to the stage in the Spring, along with recitals and projects in the New York City area. She has also worked with renowned artists such as Robert Mann, Paul Katz, Roger Tapping, Don Weilerstein, Itzhak Perlman, as well as members of the Juilliard String Quartet, Cavani String Quartet and many more. She has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Avery Fischer Hall, Chicago Symphony Center's Orchestra Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Miami's Arsht Center, Valle De Bravo, Mexico, Toronto's Royal Conservatory and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Ms. Kim was a recipient of full scholarship to the Crossroads School in Santa Monica and the Colburn School of Performing Arts where she studied with Ronald Leonard for six years. For five years, she spent her summers at The Perlman Music Program in Shelter Island, New York which gave her life changing experiences. She has also participated at Kneisel Hall in Maine and The Perlman Music Program's Chamber Music Workshop where she was invited to perform with Itzhak Perlman in the program's chamber music series numerous times throughout the years performing on stages throughout North and South America. In 2010, she was invited to join the Perlman Music Program in Jerusalem, where she performed with students from Israel in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Along with performing, she enjoys teaching her students in White Plains, NY and also privately in NYC. Ms. Kim performs on a 2005 Mario Miralles Cello, by a generous loan from the Maestro Foundation, and is pursuing a master's degree studying with Joel Krosnick at The Juilliard School.
