Special Screening of HaHaHa

The Korea Society joins the newly renovated Museum of the Moving Image to present Hong Sang-soo’s Hahaha, a deceptively light romantic comedy which won the 2010 Prize Un Certain Regard at Cannes. The film follows a filmmaker on the skids who meets a film-critic friend. During a drinking session, they decide to share memories of trips they took to the same seaside town. Enjoy this special screening at Museum of the Moving Image’s new 267-seat cinema, which is only ten minutes from The Korea Society, at 35th Avenue and 37th Street in Astoria.

Sunday, February 20
6 PM

Tickets are $10 at The Museum of the Moving Image
and include museum admission for exhibition viewing before 5PM that day.

The Housemaid
2010_10_26_housemaid_web In recognition of our recent sold-out premiere of The Housemaid (2010) at MoMA, The Korea Society proudly presents this special screening of the lovingly restored 1960 original, directed by visionary, some suggest eccentric, Kim Ki-young, a director who examines pre-modernity and modernity with respect to class differences in Korean society. Compare Kim's The Housemaid to Im Sang Soo's 2010 remake of The Housemaid.

The original version of The Housemaid (1960) was restored by the World Cinema Foundation, led by Marine Scorsese, along with the Korean Film Archive. It was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
