The film is based on the true story of 71 South Korean student-soldiers who defended an important supply line against much better equipped and professionally trained North Korean troops in the early days of the Korean War.

Into the Fire has already generated much talk as a possible contender for the Best Foreign Film Academy Award, and will soon be released in 14 American cities. The U.S. release also pays tribute to the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.

This program is part of The Korea Society's "Facing the War: Six Decades of Film Since the Korean War" series. Chosin_Rescreening_icon

Thank you to everyone who attended the sold-out performance of Chosin at Symphony Space. Due to the overwhelming demand, we are adding a special encore screening on Monday, June 14 at noon at The Korea Society.

In the harsh winter of 1950, numerically inferior American forces found themselves surrounded by the Chinese People's Volunteer Army. The Americans also battled severe cold and rugged terrain, breaking out of the encirclement and escorting 98,000 refugees to safety.  In one of the most decorated battles in U.S. military history, American servicemen received 14 Medals of Honor and 70 Navy Crosses. Chosin is the first documentary film to tell their remarkable story.

Monday, June 14
