The Korea Society welcomes Richard Nemeth to discuss Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) and Gale International's Songdo International Business District (IBD) project. Kohn Pedersen Fox is responsible for master-planning Songdo IBD, a 1,500-acre private development located 35 miles southwest of Seoul. With a commitment to sustainable design and urban planning, KPF and Gale International created the foundation for a new international city in which all information systems—residential, medical, business—will be linked. The master plan calls for mixed-use spaces in addition to offices, convention centers, world-class hotels, and a variety of residential and retail developments. Songdo IBD boasts wide boulevards, a 100-acre Central Park , a system of pocket parks, a modern canal system , and the Songdo Convensia Convention Center—amenities inspired by the great cities of the world. Richard Nemeth, design principal, will discuss the major challenges of planning for this new, sustainable city, and will explore the use of cutting-edge green design.
