About the Presenter

Yi Jong-Goo
has served as standing commissioner of the Republic of Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) since March of 2008. Prior to his position at the FSC, Yi served as outside director of the Korea Ratings Corporation as well as vice chairman of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association’s banking, finance and securities committee and a member of the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s committee for financial development. Holding a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University, Yi has participated in international finance transactions at major law firms in Seoul and NewYork—including Shin & Kim, Shearman & Sterling and Sullivan& Cromwell—and taught international investment and law at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of International Studies. His articles have been published in Korean Finance, Korean Forum on International Trade and Business Law, Commercial Law Review and Lawyers Association Journal.
