The Good, the Bad, the Weird

... and the really-not-so-great, and the bad, and the bad... and the bad.

Ok, to be 100% clear: I want my 139 minutes of life back. The biggest showcase of the South Korean film industry in recent memory, with its $10 million budget production and all-star cast (Jung Woo-sung, Song Kang-ho and Lee Byung-hun)  in recent memory, even after (or because of, perhaps?) a second viewing (278 minutes of life back, please) turned out to be little more than a sputtering, wet firecracker.

Sure enough, formally speaking, the film is not unimpressive, but the narrative and the acting (except for Song Kang-ho) so weak, that the tired viewer (me) collapses as the story painfully rolls along and out of track. Sorry, Kim Jee-woon, next time, hopefully.
