Registration is now open to K-12 educators for The Korean War: Bilingual Resources for Language Arts & Social Studies. This one-day teachers’ conference is a special opportunity for educators to learn about the Korean War and apply this knowledge in their classrooms. Dr. Charles Armstrong, Professor of History & Director of Center for Korean Studies at Columbia University, provides the historical background of the Korean War. Dr. Jin Young Choi, Professor of American Literature (Emeritus) at Chung-Ang University, explores works of literature that reflect the voices of those affected by the war. Dr. Hyunjoo Kwon, Resource Specialist, NYS Language RBE-RN at New York University, and Mr. Evan Hsieh, a Social Studies teacher at Francis Lewis High School, conduct a hands-on workshop that allows participants to further understand the various perspectives and hardship of Korean citizens throughout the Korean War. English and Korean materials will be provided.
