Charles K. Armstrong is The Korea Foundation Professor of Korean Studies in the Social Sciences in the Department of History and the Director of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University. Professor Armstrong teaches modern Korean history, East Asian history, and international history at Columbia, and is the author or editor of several books, including The North Korean Revolution, 1945-1950 (Cornell, 2003), Korea at the Center: Dynamics of Regionalism in Northeast Asia (M.E. Sharpe, 2006), and The Koreas (Routledge, 2007). His next book is Tyranny of the Weak: North Korea and the World, 1950 - 1992 (forthcoming August 2013).  Professor Armstrong holds a B.A. in Chinese Studies from Yale University, an M.A. in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago. He has taught at Princeton, Seoul National University, and the University of Washington, and has been a member of the Columbia faculty since 1996.

Jin Young Choi taught at the University of North Carolina for five years before becoming a professor of American literature at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. She was president of the American Studies Association in 2000. She is a graduate of Seoul National University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Hyunjoo P. Kwon started her teaching career as a Title VII resource specialist during the 1980s with the New York City Department of Education. She taught ESL and Korean Native Language classes and served immigrant students as a Bilingual Coordinator in high school before joining the Asian Languages Bilingual Technical Assistance Center (ALBETAC) in 1995. Presently, Dr. Kwon is a Resource Specialist, NYS Language RBE-RN at New York University.  She received her doctoral degree in Educational Administration from New York University Steinhart School of Education.

Mr. Evan Hsieh is a Social Studies teacher at Francis Lewis High School.  He earned a B.A. in American History from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2005 and an M.A. in Social Studies Education from Queens College in 2012.
