The Korea Society concluded its fourth class in the Kim Koo Professional Series in late March 2017. The professional series brings together senior professionals from media, corporate and international organizations for intimate roundtable discussion with US thought leaders on Korea and Northeast Asia. The spring 2017 class featured speakers Patrick Cronin, Asia head at the Center for a New American Security, on the Trump administration and Asia; the Heritage Foundation’s Bruce Klingner on the ROK-US alliance and North Korean challenges; and former Newsweek Beijing correspondent Isaac Stone Fish on China-Korea relations. The series strives to provide timely analysis, and Mr. Klingner followed his appearance at the Kim Koo Professional Series with testimony two days later before the House Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. A former Kim Koo Professional Series speaker, Professor Sung-yoon Lee of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, also appeared before Congress that day, providing expert testimony on US policy toward North Korea. The most recent class featured participants from the United Nations, ABC, Bloomberg, and Wall Street. Tuition is covered through the generous commitment of the Kim Koo Foundation to an endowment at The Korea Society, building professional knowledge in Korea and networks for future cooperation. Nominations for the fifth class in fall 2017 are open at policy @koreasociety.org
