In the wake of the Cheonan sinking and heightened international concern, Korea’s political and military establishment have exercised tremendous restraint and weighed various and difficult options. Join The Korea Society in welcoming Korean Vice Minister of Defense Chang Soo-Man as he assesses the post-Cheonan security situation on the Peninsula. He will analyze and evaluate nuclear and other security concerns on the Korean Peninsula, explore the “common management” strategy between the United States and Korea, and weigh prospects for new developments in the security situation. About the Speaker
H.E. Chang Soo Man is Vice Minister, Ministry of National Defense, and has enjoyed a rich career in public service dating back to 1974. He has served as Administrator of the Public Procurement Service, Policy Team Head, for the Grand National Party’s Committee for Vision of the First-Rate Nation, and Commissioner of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, as well as other other prominent positions. He holds graduate degrees in economics from Brown University and Korea University. |
