Two scholarships for Korean language study at a university in Korea are awarded each year on a competitive basis. The benefits of the scholarship include tuition, round-trip airfare to Korea and a stipend to cover basic living expenses. One scholarship covers expenses for a summer term while the other covers expenses for the full year.
2006 Scholarship Recipients
Mark Choi was enrolled in two consecutive short-term intensive courses at Ewha University’s International Language Institute. He is currently pursuing a doctoral in the Department of Political Science at the University of California in San Diego.
Nathaniel Kretchun is currently enrolled in his second of three terms he will be attending at Yonsei University’s Korean Language Institute. He a holds a BA in economics and East Asian Studies from the University of Oklahoma.

2005 Scholarship Recipients
Bonnie Tilland enrolled in an intensive, third-year level Korean language course at Sogang University. She is pursuing a Master's degree in Korean Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Piri Gordon enrolled in the regular summer term at Yonsei University's Korean Language Institute. She a holds a BA in economics from North Carolina State University and has extensive experience working with global banks in Asia. Gordon plans to use her developing Korean language skills and private-sector expertise to join the efforts of government and non-profit agencies working on reunification issues on the Peninsula.
