[AUDIO LINK] U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, briefing Asian allies in Seoul Thursday, underscored what he called the urgency of North Korea to denuclearize following leader Kim Jong Un’s historic meeting Tuesday in Singapore with President Donald Trump.  After meeting with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts, Pompeo said sanctions will remain in effect for the time being:

Asked about how the summit is viewed in the US, President of the Korea Society Thomas Byrne said that the 12 June summit in Singapore is unconventional given its top-down nature. The fact that two rounds of more traditional bottom-up negotiations have failed in the past, however, means it is possible this new approach will yield positive results.
