The Korea Society is delighted to invite you to participate in our 20th Annual Van Fleet Memorial Benefit Golf Tournament to be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the prestigious Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey. As we celebrate the tournament’s 20th anniversary, we hope to make this our most successful golf tournament yet. It will be a great opportunity for our members, friends and sponsors to join together for a day of golf while they show their support for our programs.

The Korea Society’s 19th annual Van Fleet Memorial Golf Tournament, held on Monday, October 26, turned out to be one of the most successful in the event’s nearly two-decade run. Seventy-eight golfers came out to the Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey, to support The Korea Society. Spectacularly crisp, clear fall weather made for an excellent game of golf. In a remarkable turn of play, two golfers—Soon Yong Hong and John Kwon—each scored holes-in-one, a first in tournament history. John Rodenburg won the Van Fleet Award for overall low individual gross, while the foursome of Yeon Hak Jeong, Seung-Dal Baek, Soon Yong Hong, and Jin Young Yang logged the low-net team score.

After an invigorating 18 holes, the players returned to the clubhouse to bid on silent-auction prizes provided by The Korea Society’s generous sponsors and also to get acquainted over dinner. Following dinner, the day’s exceptional players were recognized with awards:

The Van Fleet Golf Tournament returned to the beautiful Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey, on September 15, 2008. The 80 men and women, playing in 20 teams, tested their skill on the challenging, A.W. Tillinghast-designed course. Preceded by a sumptous breakfast, the day’s play produced some remarkable scores, as well as an opportunity for friends and supporters of The Korea Society to network and strengthen relationships. Top players and teams were recognized at teh dinner awards ceremony that bought the tournament to a close. Each winner (listed below) received valuable prizes from The Korea Society’s generous sponsors. As per tradition, Hyundai’s hole-in-one prize—a 2009 Hyundai Genesis—went unclaimed.

The Korea Society’s 18th Annual Van Fleet Memorial Golf Tournament on September 15, 2008. The tournament provides an opportunity for our members and friends to get better acquainted in a beautiful setting. It is also an opportunity for our generous sponsors to show their support for our programs. The success of this tournament over the years has helped us to build and transform The Korea Society into a major player in the promotion of even closer relations between Americans and Koreans.

After a long absence, the Van Fleet Memorial Golf Tournament returned to the Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey in 2007. If the 87 golfers, playing in 22 teams, were challenged by the fast greens, they were also indulged by the attentive staff and the newly renovated clubhouse facilities. Preceded by a sumptuous breakfast, the day’s play produced some remarkable scores and a chance for friends and supporters of The Korea Society to network and strengthen relationships. Top players and teams were recognized at an awards ceremony held during the dinner that brought the tournament to a close.

The only thing clouding the sky on the day of the 16th Annual Van Fleet Memorial Golf Tournament was the occasional wayward drive, sailing across the green. Seventy-one golfers, in 18 teams, played 18 holes at the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club in Bedford New York. The tournament, preceded by breakfast and followed by dinner and a silent auction, was fun for all. The Van Fleet Memorial Trophy went to C.Y. Park. The team competition was dominated by a foursome of Dong Hyun Ahn, Dukki Jin, Daehyun Kim and Moon Gie Kim. As per tradition, Hyundai’s hole-in-one prize—a 2006 Azera—went unclaimed.
