Event Link:   Han Chung Eun Han Chung Eun is an influential woodwind player well known for his work in Korean traditional music and its modern manifestations. Trained in the classical court music of Korea, which traces its origins back to 5th-6th centuries, Chung Eun pushes the boundary of Korean bamboo flutes, Daekeum and Sokeum, to transcend the genre and bring the acoustic and soulful sound of bamboo flutes to today's audiences. Well known by his eclectic repertoire, which ranges from chamber ensembles to jazz to K-pop, Chung Eun has performed and collaborated over the years with renowned artists like Bobby McFerrin, British guitar-legend Martin Taylor, Swedish jazz-guitarist Ulf Wakenius, vocalist Inga Marie, and composer and pianist Ryo Kunihiko. Chung Eun performed at two sold-out solo concerts in New York City at the Somethin’ Jazz Club in August 2013 and Drom NYC in January 2014. He has also recorded various movie soundtracks, including War of Arrows (2011), Portrait of Beauty (2008), Beyond the Years (2007), Spring in my Hometown (1998), and Crocodile (1996).   Rami Seo Ms. Rami Seo is an accomplished gayakeum artist whose expansive musical repertoire on the 12-string,18-string and the 25-string gayakeum spans the traditional and the contemporary to include ancient Korean court music and folk music, as well as current and cross-cultural compositions from across the globe. She graduated from the prestigious National Music School and Seoul High School for Korean Traditional Arts with a full scholarship and top honors. In 2002, she was Class Valedictorian at Chung-Ang University, College of Korean Traditional Performing Arts, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Korean Traditional Music and Music Education. With an impending Master’s Degree in Ethnomusicology from Hunter College, Ms. Seo is a bona-fide scholar, musician, and performance artist. Winner of multiple performing arts competitions, Ms. Seo has graced many renowned stages throughout the United States, Korea, China, Japan, Panama and Nicaragua both as a soloist and in collaboration with other famed artists. Major works include performances at the National Grand Theater of Korea, Korean Traditional Orchestra of Seoul, Korean National Orchestra for Traditional Music, Chung-Ang Orchestra, 1988 Seoul Olympics Anniversary Commemoration, Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project for World Music, Virtuosi Concert at Avery Fisher Hall, the United Nations, National Folk Festival in Richmond, Virginia, The Korea Society, Asia Society, Symphony Space, Flushing Town Hall, Korean Embassy, Smithsonian Museum, Museum of Arts and Design, Korean Cultural Service, Time Square, Bryant Park and Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Chung Eun’s recent performances include the historic inauguration of Park Geun-Hye, the first woman to be elected as President in South Korea, the 2013 NYC Winter Jazz Festival with Sunny Kim, the Opening Ceremony at 2013 Busan International Film Festival, and the Closing Ceremony at 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
