Georgia Department of Economic Development

Accepted by
Brian P. Kemp

Governor
State of Georgia

Governor Brian P. Kemp is currently serving his second term as Georgia’s 83rd governor. Throughout the Kemp administration, Georgia has consistently broken economic records with jobs and investment in every corner of the state. Korea has become the state’s largest source of foreign direct investment in recent years, with a mission to Korea as Kemp’s first overseas mission as Governor in 2019. During Kemp’s term, Korean investment in the State of Georgia has increased nearly 600% through state-worked economic development projects alone. Under Kemp’s leadership, Georgia’s commitment to bringing opportunity to all of its citizens has led to a partnership with Korean job creators that is bringing generational investment to hardworking Georgians.

A native of Athens, Georgia, Brian Kemp started his first small business over 35 years ago. His experience as a small business owner has driven his mission as governor to put hardworking Georgians first, and his leadership is yielding historic economic results. Thanks to his decision to reopen first during the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgia’s unemployment rate is at its lowest point in state history, there are more Georgians working than ever before, and Georgia has been named the Top State for Business for an unprecedented nine consecutive years.

Governor Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, and their three daughters live on their family farm in Athens and are committed to building a safer, stronger Georgia for all who call the Peach State “home.”

K-Content on the World Stage: Emergence, Explosion, and Staying Power with Steve Chung

From music to film to television and streaming series to food, K-content is dominating the world stage. With remarkable achievements across several artistic disciplines and ever growing popularity of its creative talents, South Korea is in the center of a cultural moment. Some observers may be surprised by this K-phenomenon, but the global success of South Korean cultural contents is due to a combination of various factors at work for many years before the apparent explosion.

An indispensable factor in the success of K-content, South Korean entertainment companies have not only figured out how to develop and bankroll high-quality products but also distribute them globally with a keen understanding of how culture is consumed in the 21st century. At the forefront of the South Korean entertainment industry is CJ ENM, the company responsible for bringing you Parasite, Crash Landing on You, and KCON, to name just a few.

Steve Chung, Chief Global Officer of CJ ENM, discusses the emergence, success and staying power of K-Content in a conversation with Vivian Lee.

The jazz icon has also accumulated a staggering 24-award nominations throughout his almost 50-year career and has taken home a Grammy Award, American Music Award, NAACP Award, and two Soul Train Music Awards. His biggest album was 1992’s Breathless – which sold a staggering twelve million copies in the United States alone. In addition, his 1994 Christmas release Miracles: The Holiday Album ranks as one of the most successful holiday albums ever – with sales over eight million copies. Seven of his singles have hit the Top-40 on the Billboard Hot 100, and he has been ranked as one of the most-played artists in the Adult Contemporary format – with nine top ten singles. Kenny G has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the business during his legendary career, ranging from Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Smokey Robinson, Katy Perry, Weezer, Whitney Houston, Kanye West and The Weeknd among many others. His latest release, New Standards, the title of his 19th studio album, fifth for Concord Records and first since 2015’s Brazilian Nights, could well be used to describe his four-decade body of work, a vision of jazz that helped launch both a musical genre and radio format. After director Penny Lane’s critically acclaimed HBO/MAX documentary, Listening to Kenny G – which humorously reconsiders the purist critical backlash to his music – and a solo performance on Kanye West’s Grammy-winning Jesus Is King album, it’s safe to say that Kenny G’s popularity is still growing strong.
