Event Link: Mr.  Jong Soo Park is the Chairman of the Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA), and the International Council of Securities  Associations.  Prior to this, Mr. Park was Vice Chairman at the Korea Securities Dealers Association, KOFIA’s predecessor. KOFIA is a non-profit organization, founded under the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act, whose main functions are ensuring the adherence of members to fair business practices, the fair trading of securities, and investor protection. All securities, asset management, and futures firms in Korea are KOFIA members and are subject to KOFIA’s self-regulatory operations. In his role as Chairman, Mr. Park listens to the voices of KOFIA’s members and serves as a supporter, helping them achieve further growth and development. His responsibilities also include advocating the views of market participants to financial policymakers, and working in cooperation with the industry to devise advanced policies that reflect their opinions. Before joining KOFIA, Mr. Park was Independent Director at Meritz Securities from May 2010 to Jan 2012. He has also served as CEO at a number of financial investment companies, such as Daewoo Securities (Sep 1999 to Jun 2004), Woori Investment & Securities (Jan 2005 to May 2009), and Daewoo Futures (1998 to Sep 1999). He was President of Daewoo Bank in Hungary from 1990 to 1998. Mr. Park earned his B.A. degree at Seoul National University, where he majored in commerce and trade studies. His graduate degrees, in management, were earned at Yonsei University.
