About the Sherman Family
The Korea Society’s Sherman Family Korea Emerging Scholar Lecture Award was established in 2017 through the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. Philp Sherman and family. Phil Sherman served as a director on the Society's Board from 2017 to 2024. During the 1970's he served as a senior officer for Korean operations at Citi Bank in Seoul. His years in Korea left an indelible mark not just on Phil but on his whole family. At the 2025 Sherman Family Lecture a brief tribute to and celebration of Phil and his contributions was provided.
