The Korea Society, the United States' foremost non-profit dedicated to educating Americans about Korea, is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Sherman Emerging Scholar Lecture Series, an annual presentation for a scholar who has completed or nearly completed a Korea-related dissertation, but has yet to be appointed to a tenure-track professorship. Through the generous support of the Sherman family, the series seeks to identify and encourage thought leaders on Korean affairs from U.S. universities and research institutions. The 2017 honoree will travel to New York City to present at The Korea Society in late spring or early fall. The selected applicant will receive air or train transportation, hotel, and a cash award honorarium. Scholars of Korea in the fields of international relations, political science, business, arts, or culture should send an introductory letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research for presentation, and two letters of recommendation to Dr. Stephen Noerper, Senior Director, The Korea Society, 950 Third Avenue, Floor 8, New York, NY, 10022, by February 7, 2017.
