Lea Sneider, a former member of the Korea Society board, passed last week. She was an inspiration to all of us at the Korea Society. The legacy she and her husband, the late Ambassador Richard Sneider, left is distinguished. Lea impressed many with her eye to Korean art and antiquity, and she won tremendous praise for her 1980s exhibition Auspicious Spirits: Korean Folk Paintings and Related Objects. Her assemblage of contemporary ceramics too is very fine, and a portion resides at the Society. The Society benefited greatly from her board service and the support she and her partner Rud Poats lent.
We extend warm condolences to her son Dan, a professor at Standord University, Rud and her entire family. Her commitment and legacy live on in the Korea Society's daily efforts to bridge the peoples of Korea and the United States.
The Society offered a program on the Sneider family legacy in 2014, and we encourage you to view it here: The Sneider Legacy
