Undergraduate Korea Study Abroad Grant

DEADLINE: MAY 4th | Given the Society’s commitment to promoting a greater awareness, understanding and cooperation between the people of the U.S. and Korea, this travel grant, initiated in fall 2023, has been created to ensure a wide-range of undergraduate students have the opportunity to study and live in Korea.

The Korea Society’s Fall 2025 Undergraduate Study Abroad Travel Grant is now accepting applications!

Application Deadline: May 4, 2025

Given the Society’s commitment to promoting a greater awareness, understanding and cooperation between the people of the U.S. and Korea, this travel grant, initiated in fall 2023, has been created to ensure a wide-range of undergraduate students have the opportunity to study and live in Korea. However, for some the high cost of travel to and from Korea can present a significant burden and personal funding for travel within the country can be nonexistent. Therefore this travel ‘topping off’ grant has been developed to defray travel expenses for students who would normally struggle financially to realize the life-changing experience of studying abroad, the soft-skill development which future employers, and, most importantly, the chance to cultivate an in-person understanding of Korea, a country of strategic importance to the U.S.

Current and former recipients share some experiences!

Studying abroad has been an experience of culture, language, personal creativity in problem-solving, and the astonishing kindness of complete strangers.”
Grace Oja, spring 2024 awardee, studying at Soonchunhyang University

Joseph Kyona, spring 2025 awardee studying at KAIST

Kimberly Wu. spring 2024 awardee, Sogang University

Studying abroad in South Korea was better than I could ever imagine it to be. It is amazing to be able to immerse in the culture and to learn more about the culture. I love exploring the different neighborhoods of Seoul and seeing what they have to offer. Every street is full of new experiences.”
