The Korea Society Honors Korean War Veterans at Long Island Armistice Day Commemoration

On July 10, Chelsie Alexandre, Policy Program Officer at The Korea Society, attended an Armistice Day commemoration representing President and CEO Abraham Kim. The ceremony was co-hosted by the Central Long Island Chapter of the Korean War Veterans and the Long Island State Veterans Home.

The event commemorated two major historical milestones: the 76th anniversary of the start of the Korean War and the 73rd anniversary of the Armistice Agreement.

The ceremony featured moving speeches from the NYC ROK Consul General, local civic leaders, and representatives from church communities, each reflecting on the bravery of veterans and the enduring strength of the U.S.–ROK alliance. Attendees gathered to pay tribute to the Korean War veterans residing at the facility and across the region, recognizing their profound sacrifices in defense of peace and freedom. The gathering underscored the strong bond between local civic, faith-based, and veteran organizations, all united in preserving the memory and legacy of the “Forgotten War.”

It was a privilege for The Korea Society to participate in this gathering, reaffirming our ongoing dedication to honoring our veterans and deepening shared historical ties.

The Korea Society Hosts 2026 Startup Scene Annual Forum

On May 21st, The Korea Society hosted its third Startup Scene annual forum, Startups in Focus: AI Powering the Way We Live, sponsored by Hanwha Life and co-hosted by Citi HQ. The conference brought together leading Korean and Asian American founders, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders for a full day of discussions on how artificial intelligence is transforming daily life, workplaces, and society, in addition to evolving trends in the Korea-U.S. startup landscape.

President Kim highlighted the importance of convening leaders and innovators to examine emerging opportunities and challenges in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

The program opened with a fireside chat featuring The Korea Society President Abraham Kim and Steve Jang of Kindred Ventures, setting the stage for the day’s conversations and exploring key themes around innovation, entrepreneurship, and the evolving impact of AI.

Through initiatives such as Startups in Focus, The Korea Society continues to foster dialogue, collaboration, and connections among entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders across the United States and Korea.

The Korea Society Hosts 35th Annual Golf Tournament Celebrating U.S.–Korea Business Connections

The Korea Society hosted its 35th Annual Golf Tournament at Baltusrol Golf Club, bringing together American, Korean, and Korean American business leaders from across the country for a day of competition, networking, and relationship-building in support of the U.S.–Korea partnership.

The event highlighted the importance of building meaningful connections beyond policy and business, creating opportunities for leaders across cultures and generations to strengthen relationships through shared experiences.

The Korea Society extends its gratitude to its sponsors, including Acushnet and Misto, for their longstanding support of the organization’s mission. President Abraham Kim also expressed his appreciation to Board of Directors member Michael Woods for his leadership in co-chairing the tournament.  

The event featured a fireside chat with Dr. Mat Park of MPGA, aptly titled “Life, Golf, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” The conversation explored how golf reflects key leadership values, including resilience, discipline, humility, and perspective.

Dr. Abraham Kim, President & CEO of The Korea Society, attended the 2026 Trans-Pacific Dialogue in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies. The forum brought together leaders from the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the United States to discuss key issues shaping the future of the Indo-Pacific, including global security, artificial intelligence, trade and investment, and nuclear energy.

During the conference, Dr. Kim reconnected with longtime colleagues and engaged with policymakers, business leaders, and new partners from across the three countries, strengthening opportunities for continued dialogue and collaboration.

The event concluded with a memorable performance by the “Sound Policy” band, led by former U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and featuring bipartisan musicians.
